The Futrell Pirates

When "Steve" bought his new tri bike, he also got a free Garmin GPS... So, we took the kids out Geocaching after "Steve" got home from work today. We biked part of the way and then trekked the rest of the way until we found our "treasure". The kids thought it was pretty fun to be going on a "treasure hunt" and also left "treasure" for the next person who comes along. It was fun and I think the kids will be looking forward to our next geocache.

Mapping out the route...
Off we go..Checking our coordinates...Trekking through the mud along the trail...We found it under the rockpile...
Signing our team name on the log...The Futrell Pirates!
The perfect ending to our "treasure hunt"...a rainbow!

I have heard that is a lot of fun for families. I want to try it.

Hey Jess! You may want to check out Letterboxing, too. Does not use GPS, but rather clues (sometimes easy to follow, sometimes puzzles, etc.), but the "treasure" is a hand carved stamp - you collect imprints in a notebook and it is a really cool souvenir! We had fun with it for a couple years in the states! :)
